Voice control of a home in eight languages, and a hotel guest-room app on top of room control units — built for TECO M.E. before voice assistants were common in homes.
TECO M.E. supplies PLC-based automation for buildings, hotels and industry — I/O modules, room controllers, sensors and metering. We built the software layer that people actually touch.
TECO Voice turned a controller network into something you talk to. A resident could switch lighting, climate, curtains and scenes by speaking — in eight languages, Arabic among them — at a time when voice assistants were not yet a normal thing to find in a home. The app spoke to the PLCs directly, so a command moved real hardware rather than a cloud service.
The guest room application put the same control in a hotel's hands, on top of the room control units that run lighting, climate, do-not-disturb and service calls — the guest side of a GRMS deployment.
Both apps have since been retired from the stores: the controller generation they were written for moved on, and so did the sector. We are publishing this because the engineering is the point — precise, low-latency control of physical equipment from software we own end to end. That is the same capability behind the industrial and building-automation work we take on today.
We also built and maintain TECO M.E.'s corporate website; our credit sits in its footer.
